Building a Better Community - Our Social Impact

Turning generosity into dignity, confidence and real change for the Heidelberg community.

The Donation Container

Turning Clutter into Care

Our Donation Container stands as a quiet but powerful symbol of community kindness. Shoppers regularly donate clothing, blankets, shoes and other essential items and every bag makes a difference.

Since its inception in 2024, numerous bags of donated items have been distributed to Lesedi Community Centre in Heidelberg. The organisation has been overwhelmed by the generosity and positive feedback from shoppers and the greater Heidelberg community alike.

From warm coats to sturdy shoes, your donations travel just a few kilometres to reach neighbours who need them most.

Dignity Packs – Promoting Confidence & Wellbeing

Mandela Day Initiative

Every young girl deserves to face her school day with dignity and confidence. That’s why, as part of our ongoing commitment to community upliftment, we have donated dignity packs to underprivileged girls in primary and high schools surrounding the shopping centre.

This Mandela Day initiative has been taking place annually since 2023, helping young girls, promoting dignity, confidence and wellbeing. What began as a single act of kindness has grown into a cherished yearly tradition.

Supporting a Safe Space

Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court

In 2025, Victorian Village adopted the interrogation room for abused women and children at the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court as a CSI project. But when the centre management team visited in February 2025, they saw another urgent need. It was decided to include support for the reception area in addition to the interrogation room.

On Mandela Day, Isabel Deysel, Centre Manager for Victorian Village, together with Gaby from Wimpy, visited the court to hand over:

  • Two children’s tables with eight chairs
  • Five bean bags

  • Paint

  • Larger toys collected from the Victorian Village donation bin

  • Colouring crayons and colouring sheets (donated by Victorian Village)

  • Sticker activity books (donated by Wimpy)

Now, children who arrive at the court have a warm, welcoming space with things to do while they wait, a small change that brings enormous comfort in difficult times.

Be part of something bigger.

Every blanket, every pair of shoes, every dignity pack and every hour you give helps rewrite someone’s story. From young girls in local schools to vulnerable women and children, your support reaches further than you think.
